HEATHER NABORS - SCHOOL DIRECTOR

Heather has worked for The NC Dance Project for almost 5 years as a Program Director for The NC Dance Festival. Nabors received her B.A in Dance from Coker College in 1995 and her MFA in Choreography from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1999. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Greensboro College since 2005 where she teaches jazz, modern, choreography and dance ensemble. Heather's choreography has been featured in Livestock Players productions of Urinetown,The Secret Garden and the upcoming production of Rent. In addition to her duties as School Director, Heather will be teaching beg/int modern, beg/int jazz, hip hop and musical theater jazz for The Dance Project. Heather also serves as Board President for The NC Dance Alliance.

JENNY BRASWELL

Jenny Sinfield Braswell was raised in Western North Carolina and studied dance at Pat's School of Dance and Fletcher School of Dance for 15 years. She was a soloist for the Asheville Civic Ballet in "The Nutcracker" and "Don Quixote". She has also performed in various local festivals and the New York Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She is a 2009 graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and holds a BFA in Dance with a North Carolina A Teaching License. Jenny has taught dance in both public schools and private studios to students of all ages, maintains her passion for teaching dancers of all abilities, and is a strong advocate for dance education in the public school system.

TRACIE CHAN

A North Carolina native, Tracie Chan earned her B.A. from Peace College in 1998 and her M.F.A. in Dance Performance from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2003. She has performed professionally in North Carolina with companies such as The Van Dyke Dance Group, 2Btribe, and the High Point Ballet. She has also taught extensively throughout the state at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, City Arts Dance, Sandhills Community College, The High Point Ballet and most recently, Weaver Academy for the Performing and Visual Arts in Greensboro, North Carolina. Chan is a past board member of the North Carolina Dance Alliance and she currently serves as a board member for the North Carolina Dance Project. Chan currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina and is a freelance dancer, choreographer and teacher.

ELIZABETH LANE

Elizabeth Lane holds an MFA in Dance Choreography from UNCG and a BA in Dance with a minor in Music from Winthrop University. Her professional performance career includes contemporary and commercial work such as John Gamble Dance Theater, Cyrus Art Production, Carnival Cruise Lines lead dancer, Paramount Carowinds Production Performer, and CPCC Summer Stock theater company member. In addition to performing, Elizabeth has shown choreography both by audition and invitation. Elizabeth also works in the fitness arena, helping people reach their health and fitness goals. Elizabeth has a broad range of teaching experience including ballet, contemporary, jazz, somatics, and dance appreciation.

AMY LOVE BEASLEY

Amy Love Beasley is a native of the North Carolina mountains by way of the flatlands of Alabama. She is moved by the landscapes she moves through and the people she moves with, and she works as an independent artist in visual and moving mediums. Amy received a BA in Studio Art from the College of Charleston where she studied as a printmaker, painter, and photographer. In 2007 she received an MFA in Choreography from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where her choreographic investigations began to mingle with her visual interests and she developed a thirst for exploring the body and the body in motion.. She is currently a member of John Gamble Dance Theatre and performs with kearnsdanceproject. She teaches for the Dance Project at City Arts and as an adjunct faculty member at Elon University, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Wake Forest University.

STEPHANIE BARKLEY GARNER

Stephanie Barkley Garner received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from Missouri State University and has been living, dancing and teaching in the Greensboro community for over 10 years. She is originally from Branson, Missouri where she grew up involved with theater production on many levels, from performance and choreography to rehearsal direction and dance instruction to Branson's entertainment celebrities. Her choreography has been seen on many triad stages including Once Upon A Mattress and You're A Good Man Charlie Brown most recently.  In addition to her classes with the Dance Project, Stephanie teaches dance at High Point University and is an adjunct faculty member at Wake Forest University.

ASHLEY HYERS

Ashley Hyers has been teaching at City Arts since 1991. She also co-ordinates the dance program at Greensboro College and choreographs for the theatre department. She is a certified Alexander Technique Teacher and pilates instructor.

SARAH WILDES ARNETT

Sarah Wildes Arnett is a native of Concord, North Carolina where she trained in dance, music and musical theatre. She holds a BA in American Studies from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where she was the co-chair of Momentum Dance Company, a member of the Vanderbilt Dance Program, and the Vanderbilt Performing Arts Council. While in Nashville, she also performed with six-time percussive arts world championship ensemble, Music City Mystique, and toured the U.S. as a member of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps of Dubuque, Iowa. She has taught classes in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, and Rhythm Tap in Nashville, Memphis, and Greensboro since graduating and is currently working towards an MFA in Choreography at UNC-G. She also enjoys teaching Spinning®, Zumba® and Cardio Dance in her spare time.

AMANDA DIORIO

Amanda Diorio was born and raised in suburban Boston where she studied dance, theater, music and gymnastics. She moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University in 1998. She graduated with a B.F.A. in Dance in 2002, after which she remained in Philadelphia where she worked as a Master of Ceremonies, and taught dance at several locations in and around the city. At this time she also created The Amanda Diorio Dance (A.D.D.) Company. The A.D.D. Company performed at several events including the New Edge Mix and Ladyfest- Philadelphia. She was introduced to hip hop through Rennie Harris Puremovement where she interned for several years. Amanda currently lives in Greensboro and works as a Teaching Assistant while she completes her M.F.A. in choreography.
